The Program

The Graduate Program in Agronomy (PPGA) from Federal University of Piauí, currently at level 4 (CAPES), aims to complement and enhance the training of undergraduated students and stimulates high-level research within the field of Agricultural Sciences, mainly focused on the demands from the Mid-North region of Brazil. The PPGA is focusing on the excellence in education and research through basic and advanced courses.


Mission

The Graduate Program in Agronomy has the mission to qualify high-level researchers Agronomy and generate knowledge and technology to agriculture. The Program applies theoretical, methodological, and technical knowledge for a better qualification of human resources.


General goals

a) Qualification of human resources to develop research activities focused on Genetics and Plant Breeding, Management of Plant Species, and Soil and Water Management, contributing to the development of Northeastern, Brazil.

b) To be recognized as Center of Reference in graduated studies on Agronomy.

c) Contribution to increase the technical skills of agronomists, biologists, and related areas through mentoring of high-level supervisors.

f) Contribution to the Brazilian agriculture through scientific and technological knowledge.

Audience

The audience of the Graduate Program in Agronomy consists of Agronomists, Agricultural Engineers, Forestry Engineers, and Biologists.

Master and Doctor in Agronomy, major in Genetics and Plant Breeding; Soil and Water Management and Management of Plant Species

Accreditation

The graduate program in Agronomy is accredited by CAPES (governmental organization which is responsible for assessing and accrediting higher education institutions in Brazil) with a score 4.
